Poem: Free to Be

Tim Searles
I'm free to be...

Not just free to see.

Enjoying this philosophy

That started as a bound man's remedy...

But it's now what's become of me.

Being free...

Embracing me...

Cherishing discovery...

And being myself only.

This free kicks out the mediocrity

To let excellence be my destiny.

This free messes with modern psychology

So I can think things lovingly.

It tells bold-faced lies to flee

So the truth won't leave me.

This free makes me healthy.

Without this free to be

My end would have a horrible penalty

Of knowing that I hadn't lived richly...

What a tragedy to me.

I'd rather just be free.

Insightful and hopefully based on a true story

I like the rhythm of your poem...and your take on being "free" =)

Actually that sounded too short. I really did like, as an amateur poet myself, I don't always like the poems I read on AC..lots of times, but definitely not always. That was very clean..I did like it. :)
