Poem: Halo of Gold

H. Kris Thomas
The hazy bubble dances in vision.
That halo of gold beaming overhead is
A tempting thing,
Which ought not be reached for
Or desired or coveted.
That thing simply is.

Smiling exercises the muscles of the face
And heart--
A glowing signal of gratitude and positivity--
A thing which ought to be welcomed
And, when received, easily returned.
The smile is a priceless treasure.

Wresting the past from contemptuous hands
Is no simple feat
But it must be done
If glorious light is to be seen;
If heavenly smiles are to dance on formerly destroyed faces;
If beautiful smiles are to be warmly received.
