Poem: Locket

H. Kris Thomas
I lock it so close to my body
So close that it burns in my chest
I superglue my reflections to its backside
And trap scalding memories within
Turning complex relations into a single
Manacled rumination
Into manifested trepidation at setting the done free

Very nice. The word 'manacled' reminds me of a William Blake poem that I cannot recall the title to; the line, "mind-forged manacles". Anyway, good poem depicting how we place a concept, an abstraction, onto something material, physical, and drag it behind us forever. When shall we cast it off and worry no more?
