Poem: In Love with the Bartender

Grimley Jones

Fell in love with the bartender

Cause she was good to me

I fell in love with the bartender

As beautiful as any gal could be

Drank more than I needed

Just to hang around and chat

I was in love with the bartender

But she didn't love me back

Oh it broke my heart

When 'last call' signaled time to go

Back on the streets of New York City

Heartbroken and alone

And there's so many beautiful women

In New York City

A new block, another heartbreak

It's hard on the soul

Seeing beautiful women you'll never get to know
