Poem of a Midnight Moonlit Walk

Major Jester

Multiple decades ago...

Pangs of unrest ripped at his being
A solitary walk in the night beckoned
Solstice had spoken with winter's gentle gift
Creating a silence at midnight born from a white mantle

Moonlight washed the landscape with soft tones of silver
Throwing shadows that his eye perceived as blurred
He relished the silence of moon lit snowy fields
His footsteps muffled by the night and white powder

A Fox trotted nearby and stopped to stare
Curiosity waned so Fox continued on
The serenity of the scene had brought a smile
As the spirit of Fox had suggested he proceed

Silent silver light on the land nudged clarity
His angst remained yet somehow less bitter
Knowing that struggles would plague him still
Hours he walked reflecting on his plan to cope

Multiple decades ago...
