Poem from Son to Dad, Father Who is Deceased

Your Son

Estevan Cavazos
When I was first born, I saw
a shining light in your face.
It was that you were proud to finally have a boy.
When you held me for the first time, I could feel
the warmth and your love of your tears
on my tiny hand.
When I was a little bit older, you always told me
I could be anything I wanted and I could be the greatest.
I believed you and I tried in every way possible to do what you
asked to my greatest ability.
When you passed away that morning, my
life felt miserable and pointless.
As I looked up to the sky to ask God why,
I saw a shining light and felt drops on my
hand filled with warmth and love; and
that's when I knew you would always be there,
proud to have a son.
