Strange to be
Beaten by the known -
Tender and bruised - regretful -
Skin broken on sharp memory.

Sorry to say the least.
History's what's past .
Goodbye and goodbye -

Wicked tears.

A lovely expression of regret. Unfortunately, we all have them.
Very sad :)
Deep as usual. Thank you
Beautifully eloquent, deeply expressive, and wonderfully poetic. Glad to see you writing here again, and hope to read much more from you. Thanks!
Welcome back Heather, so good to see you writing again. Well written and emotional poem!
Memories pain is as sharp as any sword, outstanding work as always Heather, glad to "see" you again...:0)
emotionally charged and well penned poem, Heather. Nice to see you posting! ;-)
Very thoughtful poem, Heather. Reading the last three lines makes me need to read again the first few lines, and suddenly I'm caught rereading the poem several times. I really like that second stanza; a vast world of people plagued with inevitable loneliness seems to be tucked between those words. And yet, there's something playful (and daring) with the repeated words 'goodbye' and 'wicked'. Maybe 'playful' is the wrong word, but the repetition draws attention to the poem itself, which I think adeptly balances the poem's emotional aspect. Anyway, enough non-expert analysis from me -- great poem.
