Poem: I Wish it Were Different

Elizabeth V. Miller
I felt something I had never felt before
And I thought I wanted you, like I had never wanted more

I was just a fool, but I should've been scared
I didn't realize you'd be different, didn't realize that you'd care
You were always around, I couldn't be free
There was love in your eyes, but it just wasn't me

I'm sorry, but I can't change who I am
I'm just me, and that's all I'll ever be

But I wish it were different, I wish it could have been
I wish I could feel your love, just once again
I wanted to be that girl that you had in your mind
I could have pretended, but I'm just not that type

Could you forgive me, I'm just not that way
But I loved you, and that's all I can say
