Poem: Within Times Lies the Legends

Melissa R. Mendelson
There are people in our lives,
who we don't see
but just hear.
We hear music
and their voices
over the air.
We will never know who they really are,
but we know that they leave an impression
within our minds
as we continue to listen.
There is something about them
that holds our attention.
Unfortunately, when the time comes
for them to go,
we feel a sadness
because they leave our lives
in a way that we can't explain.
Maybe because we grow to know them
as we drive home during rush hour
or do work as the radio plays.
We know that these DJ's will become legends
because we will never forget them.
We know that the rookies
will become the next DJ's.
We go through this process
because it tells us that life goes on.
As we watch life move before our eyes,
we remember the people that we can't forget.
We will remember the legends,
who were DJ's.
