Everyday except Sunday, Poetic Justice is open until midnight, thus making it a good place for students. It's also good not only for its lounge atmosphere, but for it's free Wi-Fi! There are sofas, tables, and reading materials. It's rather calm and relaxed, a perfect environment for doing homework or just for hanging out. It's also good for those who want a quiet place to work on business documents while having a sip of coffee. (Teachers: It's also a good place to hold a literature class, provided you have a small number of students.)
The menu is also full of a variety of things. Drinks include coffee, lattes, and even Italian soda. Foods include a delicious version of Chicken Caesar Salad (or at least what I considered delicious), quesadillas, baked items (such as muffins, cookies, etc), soups, cheesecake, fruit, cereal, and other things. Individually, nothing on the menu goes above $4.50 except for the lunch special, which is $5.99. Although servings are rather small, I found it to be quite reasonable. The order is brought to you, and when you are finished, the empty dishes and silverware are to placed in a container to be washed later.
The owner is very friendly and can speak both English and French. His demeanor greatly contributes to the easy going atmosphere there. It may also appeal to those (such as myself) who are studying or have studied the French language and would like more opportunities to practice.
Another interesting thing about this place is the events and activities that take place. There are game nights, guest poets and musicians, and other things that go on throughout the week. It's a great opportunity to make friends, meet new people, and of course, if you're into poetry, a place to practice your passion.
I believe Wichita needs more places like this, especially for students. Poetic Justice is a nice place and is just what this city needs. I wish it the best!
