Poetic Short Story: Day Within a Life

Day Within a Life

Lori Lane
A short poetic story that mirrors a marriage between a man and a woman with two different and unusual outcomes. Enjoy.

Creating puddles of feathers comes masterful measures of reflections, not to mention, words that swirl. Can weights harbor the currents of empty flowing merchants holding false gold inside their pocket packed world? Passing by the thought sheltered through you. Feeling like the buyer, nothing new. My purchase quite the fool's sale, don't bother buying retail. She said, "I'll never offer my change to only you."

So, she settles in a house all by herself. Lives heaven on earth instead of hell. Picks at guitar strings, sings songs of the lonely. But smiles because inside she's rich in health.

Bell rings, answer slowly. Could they really even know me. Do they have an inkling or a clue? Blossom is the flower, nurtured with the power of realizing love for them was quite through. Pleasure brings to finding, an open minded lining in a book tainted with memories on each page. It's better to have read the drama, if not for the insomnia. A desire to return a book that's overdue.

So, she pours herself a cup of sweet lemon tea. Places herself upon her very knee. Sees skies of infinite as her life truly begins - as no one shall teach her lessons as did he.

Walls of open skies, swallowing a pair of selfish eyes. Hungry bitterness blinded his very path. Storms struck within his heart from where life did once start, but the seller sold himself short by less than half. Grasping, cashed and old, the man who sold his soul to an idea lost everything pure he could have had. Final breath becomes reality, last exhale he stopped to breathe. A day in a life that simply couldn't last.

So, she wondered what had ever happened to his life. For she remembers being his spouse lost within time. But her future remains as strong as gold, no fool can say she sold her soul, as this is another day within her life.

When money becomes a person's heart strings - there comes a time when the song dies. Amen Grasshopper. Cheers to you and enjoy the weekend! :)
