Poetry - An art spun by the few
who do not think to force a rhyme will do,
nor do they think their effort is complete
till it can stand on fine iambic feet.
Too many shuffle words and do not care
how, spoken, they may linger in the air:
the stresses of their syllables don't meet
within the ear against a rhythmic beat.
It all takes time to craft a skilful verse,
so many will make do with something worse
and it's no wonder, when the standard's poor,
that people just don't read it any more.
