Poetry from the Heart for the Mind

Danille
The screen door stays broken, the fire unlit,
Echoes of a young child throwing a fit,
The trees cover the wounds like bandages, their beauty it heals.
Home is where the heart is, Home is where the love is real.
Home is your one true place to hide, and everything be fine.
Tell that to somebody who had a home like mine.

Take a glance through my window what do you see?
A bouncing baby girl? A perfectly happy momma and daddy?
Better look again, you've made a big mistake.
Their quasi relationship shattered when her water started to break,
He swore he'd never leave, she said she'd give me up...
Cast me aside like an unwanted partially grown Christmas present pup.

Several years later take a look again,
It seems the girls broken momma found herself a man.
The girl her voice is shattered,
Her innocence taken, like it never really mattered.
Its her fault that mommy cries at night.
If the little girl was quiet momma would of stayed happy... right?

Check back into the bruised walls called home,
See the spirits of forgotten happiness as they roam..
A plastic smile on everybody's face.
Candy coated happiness, so fake its bitter to taste.
