Poetry: Japanese Haiku

Some Examples of Haiku

Stephen Marshall
Winter upon us
Go outside and freeze over
Jump over the moon

The leaves fall gently
Roughly hitting the soft ground
No sound, but your sound

Fish float in water
Where do you float, to not live?
Stop floating now, love

Hail frozen solid
A heart beating only love
Melting now to love

Hot is the summer
A breeze amongst the tall trees
You, me. See it all

Life springs to all life
Stop living on life, to live
Hello I'm here, too

Seasons of real love
Hunting us all down, too cold
Warm up love, to love

Old dog on the log
The tree has fallen over
Tree died, dog reborn

Love sat down to eat.
The man's mind left, now fed up.
Enlightened away.

A large empty tree.
A bird occupies a branch.
Emptiness remains.
