On Sept. 9, the Brooklyn Arts Council held its "September 11th Memorial Poetry Project." All of the poems will be housed in the Brooklyn Arts Council's archives for future generations to read and enjoy, according to its website. If you'd like to read the poems online, use the supporting link. The Brooklyn Arts Council has been creating September 11th Memorial Projects since 2005. They include song, essays, film and more. All of the projects can be viewed in the Brooklyn Arts Council Archives.
Also, the Brooklyn Book Festival took place at Borough Hall from Sept. 10-12, celebrating its fifth year. Parties, music, film screenings and more were part of the festivities. About 250 authors participated this year, according to NY1. The Brooklyn Book Festival is clearly a testament to Brooklynites, New Yorkers, and others' love of reading and literature. We look forward to its sixth anniversary.
