Poetry: This is Me Wanting You

H. Kris Thomas
Let us embrace
We will bury our heads into the crooks of eachother's necks
Just like this

This is me wanting you
This is me saying that I do not need you
Since needing implies I wish to live for you
And not with you
I would like to be with you
I love you and pray for you
Always

Perhaps the fact that you could drop me,
Let me fall from your embrace
Should terrify me
But I have other spaces of love to turn to
Other valleys of grace to run through
So no pressure
This is us
Just loving

I could cry and beg for you to
Let me deeper in to your life
I could search myself with your needle and thread
Intent on filling and mending each and every hole
With your presence
But, as I said before, I do not need you because
I want to be with you
I really love you
So I pray with you
Often

In times when we are distant
I will recall dancing with you
Dancing all over this house
Crawling these floors and hallways
Creeping through these bedroom doors
Tearing down the walls with you
Bending iron and walking on water with you
