Crying Over People in Poems

Linda Louise Johnson
There is something beautiful

about a man who can cry,

whose eyes tear up when

he hears a great old hymn.

Who gets a catch in his voice

when he reads a poem.

Who cries just thinking

of a little girl

who loses her father,

or a forgotten old man

living alone in

a cold drafty house.

Unless he is moved more

by mere poetry people

than living, breathing ones.

I have been forgotten,

left alone

and lost someone.

Will this man

cry for me

even though I am not a poem

or words on a page,

but flesh and blood?

The only time I've seen my husband cry was when our 17 year old Chihuahua passed away.

Wow. This is the epitome of good art because it makes you stop and think.

I have read and commented, but just had to return because I cried at Sunday night services as we lost a long time lady of our in death, but these were more tears of joy than sorrow, for we know she is safe in the Arms of Jesus. Make sense?

Powerful message: it made me reflect.

Linda, I am just getting to know you, so I don't really understand your poem fully, but I do feel a lot of pain between the lines. I hope writing about it helps. On a more positive note, I just signed on as your fan! Nancy

I do want to say that this is not strictly autobiographical; although inspired by a real life situation, I drew it to a poetic conclusion.

Hope he realizes who he has lost!! Everyone deserves a wonderful loving real person in their lives!!
