My hand lies on the table
Palm open
In a silent surrender
Forcing my fingers to extend
Palm open
In a silent surrender
Forcing my fingers to extend
When they curl up
I force them down
The regret washes over me
in waves, rolling in and out
But I don't drown
I sit and acknowledge
my iniquities and truth
does not drown
Go with the tide
soon enough you will find yourself
on a peaceful shore
after the sand has scoured
the slough away from my skin
