Poetry: Stay with Me Tonight

H. Kris Thomas
Sopping wet pillow case
Red eyes
Hurting heart
I miss you and wish you would
Stay with me tonight

Yesterday
I pushed you away
I returned the phone to the hook
I was a sunken ship
And the certainty I felt in goodbye
Wavered before I even uttered the word

Foolish me

And I was at my breaking point
But you stood nearby
So that when I came to you
Looking into your face
With my red, wet eyes and my
Hurting heart
You embraced me
And said to me:
Stay with me tonight

Wait...Is this a prequel to "Palm Reading".....Because you weren't so keen on forgiveness in that latter lol

Exquisite. You've definitely captured a familiar feeling.
