I lock the door
And chain it
And chain it
I nail myself to the floor
I sleep beside my bed
Heavy head
Heavy lids
Heavy limbs
I sleep my sorrow down
In my head
I dance quickly
My feet move forward
But my hips remain inflexible
I named my dance
THE RUN
But I have nowhere left to go
I have run my soul away
Searching for Yes where No prevails
Tuning out sound and hope and possibility
Foolish me
So I'm staying put
Until the chase no longer arouses me
And the feel of sameness no longer scares me
I will make my peace
With the stillness
Until I can embrace the silence
