Poets 4 Haiti: Blog Publishes Poets Who Have Donated to Help Haiti

Sabne Raznik
There has been a blog set up to showcase the work of poets who have contributed to Haiti relief.

poets4haiti.blogspot.com/ features poems from all over the world. These poems can be on any theme; they do not have to concern Haiti directly. In fact, light poems are encouraged to lift the mood surrounding the event. There is a stated 30 line limit that is negotiable as long as it is not stretched too far. The only requirements for publication on the blog is that the poet contribute to a known charitable organisation for Haiti relief. This donation will be made by the poet himself and the organisation and amount should be included in the submission. The amount will not be posted; it is merely for statistical purposes. Proof of donation is not required. Language used within the poem should be PG-rated. Poets should include their name, city, state, and country as well. The poems should be included in the body of the email (attachments are strongly discouraged) and sent to poets4haiti@gmail.com. The editor aquires one-time rights only for the purpose of the blog and that is all.

The site shows that the total donations of the poets represented presently total $830, plus four donations of undisclosed amounts. The site includes a list of charities that they prefer that the donations be made to, but the editor is open to other organisations.

The group also has a Facebook page called Poets 4 Haiti which contains submission information as well.
