Point Guard (PG) Rookies - Top 3

Kyrie Irving - Cle - pg

The 1st pick in the 2011 NBA draft, Irving should see plenty of playing time in the Cavaliers lineup this season. And while Irving may not be the starting PG from day one in Cleveland, he could eventually take over as the starter by mid-season. Yet even as a backup, Irving should still manage to rack up a consistent 25 minutes per game off the bench. Either way, Irving offers fantasy basketball teams plenty of potential and upside.

2010-2011 College Stats: 52.9 fg% -- 17.5 ppg -- 1.6 3pt -- 3.4 reb -- 4.3 ast -- 1.5 stl -- 0.5 blk

2011-2012 Projected Stats: 45 fg% -- 14.0 ppg -- 1.0 3pt -- 2.5 reb -- 5.0 ast -- 1.5 stl -- 0.2 blk

Kemba Walker - Cha - pg/sg

One of the few 2011 NBA rookies possessing extensive college experience, Walker was an enormous scoring threat for the Connecticut Huskies during his three year college career. Entering a Charlotte Bobcats team that desperately needs talented guards to claim playing time, Walker has plenty of potential to become one of the Bobcats top three leading scorers as a rookie this season.

2010-2011 College Stats: 42.8 fg% -- 23.5 ppg -- 1.8 3pt -- 5.4 reb -- 4.5 ast -- 1.9 stl -- 0.2 blk

2011-2012 Projected Stats: 42 fg% -- 16.0 ppg -- 1.5 3pt -- 3.0 reb -- 4.5 ast -- 1.5 stl -- 0.2 blk

Brandon Knight - Det - pg

A 6-3 point guard, Knight has an excellent opportunity to take over as the Pistons starting PG from day one to begin the 2011-2012 season. With a youth movement occurring in Detroit, there is little reason to doubt that Knight will not be able to tally 25 minutes plus per game as a rookie this year. Currently more of a scoring threat than assist maker, Knight offers solid three point potential for fantasy basketball teams.

2010-2011 College Stats: 42.3 fg% -- 17.3 ppg -- 2.3 3pt -- 4.0 reb -- 4.2 ast -- 0.7 stl -- 0.2 blk

2011-2012 Projected Stats: 40 fg% -- 12.0 ppg -- 1.5 3pt -- 2.5 reb -- 3.5 ast -- 0.7 stl -- 0.2 blk
