Point Spread Picks for Week One of the 2010 NFL Season

Handicapping Week One

Randy Inman
Thanks for checking out my handicapped predictions for week one of the 2010 NFL season. I also do a straight won loss prediction article for week one of the 2010 NFL season that you can see here. I am also part of a group of Associatecontent.com writers doing a predictions contest; check that out with this link. These are my first ever point spread picks so forgive me if I suck. The week one NFL point spread I used comes from Footballlocks.com feel free to leave a question below if you have a different point spread.

Vikings at the Saints

Brett Favre takes the Vikings down to the Big Easy to take on the New Orleans Saints. I think the Saints feel they have to prove themselves again and the Vikings will be missing Sidney Rice. The week one point spread I have gives the Vikings 4.5 points. Take the Saints against the points. New Orleans wins 28 to 17.

Raiders at the Titans

Oakland will be much improved with the release of JaMarcus Russell and the addition of Jason Campbell. The problem is Jason Campbell was injured in the preseason and the Titans are pretty healthy. Take Tennessee against the 6.5 points given to the Raiders. Tennessee wins 24 to 7.

Panthers at the Giants

This is a revenge game for the Giants who were embarrassed in their last game in the Meadowlands by Carolina. Carolina has no passing game and the Giants should take this game 21 to 14. The point spread is 7 to the Panthers so I call this game a you pick em.

Broncos at Jaguars

Neither one of these teams is much to write home about and Denver is being given 2.5 points in this week one NFL point spread. Take Jacksonville against the spread to win this game 17 to 10.

Falcons at Steelers

The Atlanta Falcons travel to Pittsburgh to go against a team missing Big Ben who got in trouble in Georgia due to Little Ben. I am not on the Falcon band wagon yet and think the Steelers can still be solid. Pittsburgh is a 2.5 point underdog and I think that is accurate. Take Atlanta to win 21 to 17.

Dolphins at Bills

This is going to be a long season for the Buffalo Bills and perhaps a pretty nice one for the Miami Dolphins. Ignore the 3 points given to Buffalo as Miami will rout them 27 to 10.

Browns at Bucs

The battle of two bad teams sees Cleveland going down to Tampa Bay. Cleveland is being given 3 points, take Browns and the points. Cleveland defeats Tampa Bay in week one of the 2010 NFL season, 17 to 10.

Bengals at Patriots

The Bengals travel to New England to see if they are the good team from the regular season or the flop from the playoffs. Tom Brady has Wes Welker back and the team looked good in preseason for the most part. This should be a close game and Cincinnati is being given 4.5 points. Take the points but the Patriots win the game 21 to 17.

Colts at Texans

If you like lots of scoring then you will get it in a matchup of Peyton Manning versus Matt Schaub. Houston is being given 2.5 points due to the suspension of Brian Cushing probably. Take the points as Houston wins outright 31-28.

Packers at the Eagles

The Donovan McNabb era is over in Philadelphia and now we see what Kevin Kolb can do as the starter. Green Bay has a great offense and steady defense except for being a little old at corner. The Eagles are being given 3 points and I say you pick em as Green Bay wins the game 24 to 21.

49ers at Seahawks

The San Francisco 49ers travel to Seattle in an early division game. Seattle is being given 3 points but it won't be enough as San Francisco wins 21 to 10. This was an easy game to handicap in week one of the 2010 NFL season. Seattle is just bad and the 49ers are improving each year.

Cardinals at the Rams

Sam Bradford takes on Derek Anderson in what should be a low scoring game. The Rams are being given 4 points but that isn't enough. My week one NFL prediction is Arizona 10 St. Louis 0.

Lions at Bears

The Lions are getting better but the Bears probably did as well in the off season. Look for the Bears to throw all over the field under new offensive coordinator Mike Martz. Take the Lions and the 6 points but Chicago wins 24 to 21.

Cowboys at Redskins

Dallas is my Super Bowl pick but I will regret it when their offensive line shows how bad they are. Mike Shanahan makes his Redskins coaching debut and Donovan McNabb is expected to play despite an injury. Ignore the 4 points being given to Washington as Dallas wins 21 to 14.

Ravens at the Jets

The Ravens and the Jets are two favorites to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl. I like Baltimore's improved offense and I wonder how rusty Revis is having signed one week before the game. Ignore the 2 points given to the Jets as Baltimore wins 14 to 10.

Chargers at the Chiefs

The Chargers are depleted with the holdout of Marcus McNeil and the suspended and holding out Vincent Jackson. Kansas City is getting better and I think you should take the 5.5 points as the Chiefs win 24 to 21 in an upset.

Thanks for reading my point spread predictions for week one of the 2010 NFL season.

BTW... u prob don't wanna do pick'em when u do these.... when u do that, that means it has to be that exact margin or you lose.... just take the points or give them in the future gives you much better chance.

K.C... I almost picked them str8 up in my picks too. That line seems pretty low too for that game so I think Vegas knows something about K.C.'s chances... lol. Good stuff
