Poison Envy

What is Poison Envy? Let me begin my introduction by defining the words poison and envy. Poison as defined in the Merriam-Webster Thesaurus is something that harms, a toxic, a virus. However, envy is defined as a spiteful malice and resentment over another's advantage. Moreover, the word "malice" in conjunction with envy's definition is a very strong word. It is defined as an act of desiring or wishing pain, injury or distress towards another. Furthermore, "resentment" is defined as an emotional response to a slight action or indignity. In other words, sensitive.

By mincing what incorporates poison and envy's definition individually, we now have a clear description of a person I like to call as "Poison Envy".

Do you want to get to know Poison Envy? Here's a few tips. They're shameless. This person will go extra mile to inflict pain towards another person. They're imaginative. A poison envy will go its way to turn a story around, invent incriminating lies and, uses gossip as a very vital tool. They're heartless. He or she takes no consideration what other people feel. He or she will victimize not just the intended target but also, will show no respect to its family and/or friends. They're pretentious. The tricky part is a poison envy is good in the game of masquerade. He or she will pose as a friend at the moment or maybe a co-worker if you're unlucky enough, and then will stab you at the back when you're caught off guard. But the scariest part is, most of the time, we don't know who they are! One thing is for sure though, they walk among us.

In my experience, I've already encountered all kinds of people. I can deal with an airhead, a boastful co-worker, a beauty queen wanna be, and even an "oh so bossy" boss, but I can never digest a poison envy. An unfortunate victim once or twice, the experience was disturbing. It all happened in a time in my life when everything is falling at the right places at the right time and I was ever so thankful. Have you ever had the feeling that when everything is going well in your life and you feel so blessed, you felt the urge to be extra nice to other people and share your blessings in whichever way you can? Well, I did just that. Little did I know someone is accumulating "whatever" pile against me. Stories were made, harm was done - they thought! But at the end of that tunnel, I found light. I learned to appreciate more how much unconditional love and support my family and my true friends give me. And that is priceless! No poison envy can take that away.

The lesson I learned is ... what matters most is what we hold inside our hearts. Once we realize that, there's a peace of mind that comes as a reward.

In my conclusion, I think that the real reason why a poison envy exists in this world, it's because... they're simply NOT HAPPY! No one gives them the time, attention, love and care that they need. And once they see that other people are lucky to have that, they turn to this shameless monster. Frankly speaking, even the most advanced psychotic ward can't diagnose that. Pitiful yet true!
