Poison's Bret Michaels Subarachnoid Hemorrhage, Every Rose Has It's Thorn

Bret Michaels Dead?

Lori Lane
Poison's frontman Bret Michaels is in for the fight of his life as he experiences a brain hemorrhage following a week long recovery from an emergency appendectomy. An appendectomy is the removal of the appendix. Michaels was expected to make a full recovery. However, on Thursday Michaels was noted as in critical condition within the intensive care unit following a severe headache according to OMG! through Yahoo. The doctors concluded that Michaels was bleeding at the brain stem.

So, what's next? More tests. It's only fair to say that each body works differently. It doesn't look good for Rock of Love's Bret Michaels - although it's still too soon to tell.

Rumors have surfaced that Bret Michaels died, but it's not over until the fat lady sings. As long as an overweight nurse can't belt one out - we can count our lucky Celebrity Apprentice stars.

A brain hemorrhage is no laughing matter, just ask the survivors or those who have lost loved ones surrounding this condition. My father and sister experienced brain bleeding. My father survived resulting in brain damage. My sister fell into a coma and died less than a week of being in the hospital. She described her headache as "painfully shifty and swollen." She was conscious yet fell into a coma following brain surgery. She had limited brain activity that declined - she died.

But that's not to say Bret Michaels faces death or will end up with brain damage. However, anything goes when it comes to brain hemorrhages. You either get lucky or not, a serious roll of the dice. We are sure that Michaels has the best physicians that money could buy - let's hope they are right on the money on the next plan of action.

Even though being positive is a great thing don't let the word stabilized and conscious get your hopes up yet. TMZ reports of Michaels in stabilized condition and conscious although the next 48 hours are critical. If an operation to correct the situation is to be met then the first 48 hours following the operation would be far more critical. The first step doctors take is whether or not they can stop the bleeding and contain the situation without having to operate. And after specific testing they make a decision.

The only thing to do right now is hope for the best for Bret Michaels. For Michaels - every rose has it's thorn - for him at this moment, the thorn is considered a brain hemorrhage.

Although I was unimpressed with Poison as a band, I wish Brett Michaels the best of luck in this ordeal.

UPDATE: BretMichaels.com released further information that Michaels suffered a "setback" from a side effect surrounding the brain hemorrhage. Doctors discovered Michaels developed hyponatremia due to a lack of sodium in his body. Hyponatremia can lead to seizures. Doctors anticipate more information within a week. BretMichaels.com suggests the next update to be next Monday. Good thing is no word of an operation has been released.

Been there, I can tell you it is not an easy thing. The brain surgery alone took me 8 months to recover and there are still days....but at least I'm still with the living. Our prayers are definitely with him and the family who will care for him during this dreadful time. cheers :)
