Polacca Brillante

John Sarkis
Alongside with the Invitation to the Dance, Konzertstuck, and the Sonata in A flat; the Polacca ranks among Weber's most well known piano pieces.

Weber wrote the Polacca in 1819, and it's his last piano solo piece (the last piano sonatas are multiple movement works which merit a review of their own, but the Polacca is his last piano solo-single movement work).

The work is a rondo, and very difficult at that. It requires great prowess and virtuosic ability from the pianist.

Much of Weber's piano music has dissapeared from the scene, and it's seldom performed now-days.

Weber was a contemporary of Beethoven and Schubert.

I've written articles, a few short stories, and I'm currently working on a novella. I've also written 2 symphonies, and a handful of piano compositions.  View profile
