Polarity

fuck, it's like
magic how the
days trip by like
soldiers orderly and we in our
dementia-laced wisdom
stick flowers in their gun
barrels
smile at their determined bleak
determination to determine
what has yet to be determined
they are figments of the things those guys out there
created for us
we are funhouse-mirrored, multiplying
symbiotic every martian molecule
connected to this ever
after
thing
what
have
we
done?
adrenaline, and like any junkie knows
when you come down
you come down hard
and when your mind's the drug there is no
cheap and easy fix-
you wait.

and when the clouds roll back in and scream
obscenities into my ears
and self-degrading venom makes me
stink of all the failures that i've been
and sky bleeds acid into every pore
i've lived in touched created been
days will march by
soldiers, stiff-backed
unforgiving
stomping on the flowers
that i gave them
yesterday.
