The incident happened back on Wednesday, December 12th, at around 9:00 at night. Raul Carrillo Alderete, a 28-year-old Hispanic North Hollywood resident, broke into his wife's home located on the 7500 block of Irvine Avenue in the City.
Once he was in the house, he took their 11-month-old daughter and fled from the house. Alderete's wife immediately called police and reported the kidnapping.
Police were able to track down the 28-year-old man extremely quickly. He was easily identifiable due to distinctive tattoos on the back of his neck, including the words "Desiree" and "Hecho in Ponoma." The man was officially taken into police custody less than 24 hours after the abduction. Both Alderete and his daughter were wearing the same clothes that they were reported to last be seen wearing. He was wearing jeans, a white t-shirt, and a plaid jacket, while the little girl was wearing bright yellow pajamas.
Luckily, the young girl was also alive and well when her father was obtained by police. She is presumed to be in the current custody and care of her mother.
Unfortunately, no kidnap charges could be filed against Alderete because there was no full or official custody agreement between Raul Alderete and his distant wife. It is also unknown if the couple is currently seeking a legal divorce or not or if the wife has a restraining order against her estranged husband.
However, Alderete may still have to serve time behind bars. The Ponoma, California Police Department currently has a $4 million warrant against Alderete for unmentioned charges. He is expected to have a court date for these charges as well.
A picture of both Raul Alderete and Deanna is available through the Media Relations Office of the Los Angeles Police Department.
The LAPD takes kidnapping crimes very seriously, especially ones where the abducter is a family member or friend. All information about aducted children should be reported to North Hollywood Detectives at 818-623-4045. During after hours, non-business hours or weekends, call the 24-hour toll free Detective Information Desk tip line at 1-877-LAWFULL (529-3855). All and any information reported into either of the two numbers can be reported confidentially or anonymously at the discretion of the caller.
Even if you do not live in Los Angeles, you should always report kidnapping information to your local police or law enforcement center as soon as possible.
