Political Horse-trading in Albany

One More Reason Why a New Yorker Should Not Be Elected to the White House Any Time Soon

When I wrote a previous article subtitled, "Why I don't want a New Yorker To Be A Future President of USA," that would have sounded outright blasphemous.

But do I feel any remorse in saying that, even after being a New Yorker?

No, not at all. Actually, now NY has given one more instance to vindicate my position in the matter. In fact, I never expected one this soon, within a fortnight!

Only one difference now: If it was NY City that prompted me to write it the first time, now it is NY State that is providing me more reasons to reaffirm my belief a second time.

And City cannot wash off its hands in the State's murky politics as the present dirty dealings started in two of the five boroughs of the City.

The political games here have come down to such an abysmal depth that representatives from Upstate New York have openly voiced concern about the needs of a larger area of the Sate being ignored by the noisy but fewer crowd from the Downstate - the five boroughs of the City and the two of Long Island.

High time the FBI moved in to stop this mischief before democratic representation becomes a free-for-all type of trading activity. The people of the State definitely need to know if any money was involved in the present political bargains.

And all this because some wily politician is moving his political chess pieces to garner enough votes to become the next President of USA!

But, there is no place for horse-traders, self-serving chameleons and I-am-a-citizen-but-my-loyalty-is-abroad type of dual personalities in the White House.

The Oval Office is a powerful office in the world to be in, that needs a clear-headed person to make historic decisions for the world.

That is a unique seat of power on this planet, that calls for exceptional fortitude and forethought to issue orders that may be unpopular at the time but needed for the existence of the posterity.

That is a morally high pedestal where a person will be tempted to misuse the people's treasury and army for personal or family or own community's gains.

Especially, the position of the Commander-In-Chief can be dangerous in the hands of I-am-a-citizen-but-my-loyalty-lies-elsewhere types. We may invariably find ourselves in places and cross-fires where we should not be and even thanklessly shedding our blood and sacrificing our youngsters, despite all the expert-sounding baloney invented to support it. That is rank opportunism under the garb of patriotism.

New York's representatives have once more failed their electorate by playing into the hands of a few and placing personal goals above their constitutional duties.

Millions of dollars worth of people's programs are awaiting approvals and being time-barred, the funding may lapse soon unless voted on by these so-called people's representatives!

And the kingpins of these games may sooner or later will be approaching the wider nation with the refrain,"Please elect me to the White House. You see, I did wonders for New York."

Some may even claim, "I am America's hero because without me New York won't exist today." We heard that before, haven't we?

Something is really rotting here behind the scenes. False pride need not prevent a New Yorker in telling that to the whole nation.

A New York horse-trader has no place in the White House proper, period. May be White House used to maintain fully stocked stables in the past, not now.
