Political Humor: "Election Edition" Crayon Colors

Although the excitement surrounding the 2008 election is essentially over, I thought it would be fun to provide some post-election political humor.

In honor of the historic presidential selection process, wouldn't it be great if Crayola created an "Election Edition" of crayon colors? To get them started, I thought it would be appropriate to suggest the names of some colors that could be included in that special crayon box. Although these colors will probably not be distributed by Crayola, they have pretty relevant and creative names.

Barack Blue. In honor of the history making, 44th president of the United States, Barack Obama, this bold, yet calming color would be similar to the shade of blue in our beloved American Flag. With blue being the color of the sky and the ocean, it is one of the most popular colors-befitting of the candidate who won both the popular and electoral votes in the 2008 presidential election.

"Mauve"rick. No one can forget Senator John McCain, the Republican presidential candidate from Arizona, affectionately known as the "Maverick." This cool hue is a pale lavender-lilac color-one of the many shades of purple-a noble color for our favorite and most respected war veteran.

Palin Green. In honor of the forever entertaining, unforgettable "barracuda", Governor Sarah Palin, this color would be a perfect shade of green-probably a combination of sea green and mint green.

Joe the "Plum"er. While Joe the Plumber was not exactly a politician or contender in the 2008 presidential election, he was the surprise star at the third and final presidential debate. This lovely blush would be a perfect hue of red and purple. Although plum and purple shades are usually associated with royalty, regality, and sophistication, we won't take this association away from old Joe.

Ruby Giuliani. This color would be a lovely shade of the richest of reds, created in honor of Republican candidate Rudy Giuliani. Although Mr. Giuliani dropped out of the 2008 Republican nominee race in January 2008 (ultimately endorsing Senator McCain), we would be remiss not to create a color in this "special edition" crayon box for this influential candidate.

Cotton Condi. This yummy shade would be created in honor of the outgoing Secretary of State, Ms. Condoleezza (Condi) Rice, and would be a pretty shade of pink. The color "pink" is often called the sweet side of red. This is very appropriate for the charming, yet powerful character of Ms. Rice.

Do you have any creative suggestions to add to this list? If so, send me a message at www.associatedcontent.com/sharethaemanuel.

I loved your piece. I would like to add 'Rush' Red to your pallet. This is the color the commentator's face achieves when some one says the word 'liberal'
