I think conservative Christians and others, especially establishment Republicans have the wrong idea when voting for President and other political candidates.
A Baptist pastor here in Texas while introducing Governor Rick Perry answered a question from the audience about Mitt Romney and the Mormon Church, preferring (apparently) to be called by the name The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. In answering that question, Rev. Jeffers said that Mormons are a cult and that Romney is not a Christian. Mr. Perry said he disagrees with those remarks, I wish he did not disagree with those remarks.
The mainline media seems to be making a big deal out of Rev. Jeffers referring to the Mormon church as a cult. The mainline Christian Churches have always thought of the Mormon Church or if you prefer The Church of Jesus Christ of later day Saints as a cult. They have thought the same of Jehovah's Witnesses, The Children of God and some of the Worldwide Church of God, Seventh Day Adventists and Churches of Christ.
Some establishment Republicans have said that Mitt Romney has the best chance of beating Obama, or that the race will be between Perry and Obama. And while they were saying this Herman Cain was surging in popularity among republican voters (not just conservative, but all republican voters) and the polls showed him able to tie or beat Obama.
I will not buy the lie that the Republican candidates are all better than Obama and will not buy the lie that we must vote Democrat or Republican or not vote at all. If Mitt Romney is the Republican Candidate I will vote for someone other than either him or Obama. There are plenty of third parties available including the Libertarian, Constitution and Reform parties among many others.
If you think that by voting for a third party you are wasting your vote, I have this question for you. How is repeatedly doing the same thing over and over and over again (voting for either Democrats or Republicans) and expecting a different result working for you? Personally, I think the best choice for Christian Conservatives and perhaps Republicans is Alveda King, the niece of the late Martin Luther King, but she is not running and no one in the mainline or any other media seems to be smart enough to encourage her to run. She is very much pro-life and pro-Christian (sort of).
A third party is not a wasted vote, voting your conscience and voting for the candidate that comes closest to what you want and what you believe is right, not what the Tea Party or the establishment believes. If people keep thinking the lesser of two evils, we will still have evils in our politics, stop doing the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over again and expecting this one or that one to be different. When it comes to politics experience is a dirty word
Although Wikepedia seems to think this article has multiple issues (citations, etc.), I find it useful because it not only list many of the third parties here in the United States but has links to their websites.
I have strong disagreements with Psychologists such as Dr. James Dobson and especially the self-esteem doctrine which is anti-scriptural. But during the last presidential election Dobson seemed to threaten to endorse a third party candidate. Wish he had of, and especially hope conservatives will endorse third party candidates this time around. Expect Libertarians to make a strong showing this time around, perhaps even taking the White House.
Voting for a third party candidate who meets or comes close to meeting your criteria and beliefs is not a wasted vote, voting for a mainstream party when you know they will do you wrong, lie to you and misrepresent the facts is a wasted vote.
So, vote for the candidate of your conscience and do not listen the establishment attempt to brainwash you out of having a conscience and saying things like "... has the only chance of beating Obama." Hogwash, Hogwash, Hogwash.

Post a CommentI love this Butch. You are so right. The left-wing, liberal media is the last one that I'd listen too. Well done. PS, the picture looks like the Westboro Baptist Church who picked our church. Great work Butch. It was so good to hear from you friend.
Interesting. I will vote for the person who clearly aligns himself/herself to our Foundational values. cheers ;)
