I listened to both political speeches today: the one by Obama and the one by Boehner. I call them political speeches because that is what both speeches amounted to.
If you want help to the poor and have everyone share the burden of the debt, you are a liberal politician
If you want to take from the poor and give to the rich, and you want the middle class and the poor to bare the complete burden of the debt; you are conservative politician or you are a Tea Party politician.
If you believe tax cuts have added to the debt, you are a liberal politician
If you have fooled yourself into thinking that tax cuts have not added to the debt, you are a conservative politician or a Tea Party politician.
If you believe that Congress should not compromise and we should let the US default on the national debt, you are a Tea Party politician or a politician that does not care about our nation's future.
If you are against the 'cut, cap and balance' act then you are either a Tea Party politician or a liberal politician. I never thought I would see the day that the Tea Party politicians sided with liberal politicians. Good starting point. Now why don't the Tea Party politicians do things the American way and compromise instead of acting like a bunch of Communist politicians?
Obama wants more revenues from people that earn over a million dollars a year and from businesses that earn over $250,000 a year. Why not any business or individual that earns over a million dollars a year. Why the bias against the business? I think the standard should be the same for both. If it is one million dollars for individuals, it should be one million dollars for businesses. Personally, I think one million is too low a figure because that figure impacts small businesses. Let's be realistic about this. Let's pick a figure that does not impact small businesses.
Boehner talks about more spending. I guess he considers any Democratic cuts in Entitlement programs a form of spending while Boehner's cuts in Entitlement programs are not spending. Boehner is the impotent Speaker of the House. He has no influence and no control over the Tea Party members. When he talks, he sounds like a rich politician protecting himself and other rich politicians from paying more taxes.
Most Republican politicians sound like they have made huge investments in the oil corporations. Instead of encouraging other nations to apply stricter environmental controls on their industries, Republican politicians prefer to join the other nations so that the whole world is polluting our environment and endangering our health and the health of future generations. It's obvious that most Republican politicians have no investments in the fishing industry.
So that sums up my impression of the political speeches given today by our President and by the political leaders of our dysfunctional Congress. My advice is: If you have a variable rate mortgage and we default on our national debt payment, run for the hills because your monthly mortgage rate is going up!
