Politically Correct Behavior Sucks

The First in a Series of Non-politcally Correct Articles

As part of my morning, routine I like to relax on the sofa for a few minutes with my tea and catch up on what's happening in the world by watching a morning news program.

Not too long ago, an item on the news caught my attention and got me all sorts of pi$$ed off.

It seems that Presidential aide Rahm Emanuel blasted critics of O'Bama's health care plan by saying they were "f@#king retarded".

Soon he was being lambasted by everyone and their brother for his poor choice of words.

Not the F-Bomb...no, it would appear that everybody was OK with that. It was his use of the word "retarded".

Before I get carried away here, let me consult dictionary.com...

re tard ed(adj.) characterized by retardation

re tard(verb) to make slow; delay the development or progress of; hinder or impede

Maybe I'm being thick-headed (wouldn't be the first time) but it seems to me that his choice of the word was actually very appropriate, at least from his perspective.

He obviously supported the President's plan and believed that those who opposed it were hindering the process.

Whether you agree with him policy-wise is irrelevant, he was stating his opinion and used a word that accurately described how he felt.

Here's a word that his detractors should have looked up before they decided on a media-lynching - connotation.

Allow me;

con no tat ion(noun) the associated or secondary meaning of a word or expression in addition to its explicit meaning.

I think it's time that somebody built a dam to stop the flood of tears coming from these "politically correct" cry-babies before they drown our right to free speech

This tyranny is nothing more than but misdirection to distract us from what is truly important, in this particular example, health care.

I thought it was bad when they made us refer to the swine flu as H1N1, what were they afraid of, hurting the feelings of some pigs? Next they'll be saying that men in bars can't call an unattractive woman a "dog" because it will offend PETA or the SPCA.

It's no surprise that the most vocal critic of Mr. Emanuel's word choice was Sarah Palin. It appears that she took it as a direct attack on her "intellectually challenged" son. (did I say that right?)

I understand the need to exercise discretion when speaking and I agree with the concept that nobody should intentionally make derogatory remarks about another person or group of persons in a public forum. If Emanuel had stood up and said "those retarded kids are a bunch of f**king a$$holes." I'd be the first one in line to lynch him (figuratively speaking of course).

What I won't get behind is this constant attempt to sanitize the world one word at a time.

Political articles can be a very touchy matter. However, you have a very well-written article here. Great job.
