Poll of the Best Jobs in the World
What was the Best Job You Ever Had, and What Would You Consider the Ideal Job
Some jobs I've had were working with the public, such as waitress work, and and even though it was hard work, that's a big plus for a talker like me. Of course, I was 30 years younger, too.
If I consider the money, legal work was probably among the best. As a computer operator, I enjoyed the learning experience. But all in all, I guess I would consider what I do now, working at home, to be the best of the lot.
Every job has its pros and cons. There are many things to consider in employment: money, benefits, environment, personnel, type of work and flexibility of hours when you're looking for a job, and if you find something that fits all your criteria in those areas, you're very fortunate indeed. For the majority of us working stiffs, though, all those do not usually come together in one place.
Many people think that being the boss is a great position, but I've discovered in talking with many such people there are stresses involved that for most of us would take the pleasure out of being in charge. Also, very few people in any working environment do not actually answer to someone else.
I love to sing and the thought of being on stage with a band would be exciting. But then I begin to think, if you're successful, there's the constant traveling, the monotony of repeating the same material night after night, and the responsibility of all those people working for you. It's not like I could just decide to take a night off.
Many others think the ideal job is working from your home where you can be your own boss and be the master of your own schedule. What a lot of people don't realize, though, is that you also have a flexible paycheck. Unfortunately, electric bills are not quite as flexible and have a definite pay schedule. Also, there's that distraction problem that so many of us work-at-homers face, the phone, the errands, the door, the housework, etc.
If I could design the ideal job, it would contain flexible hours, short-term interaction with the public, excellent pay and benefits, and interesting duties. Since I'm not quite sure what type of work that would be, I've decided to take a poll of readers to see if you have an idea what you think the perfect job would be.
So, Readers, you tell us what you think is the ideal job, and then we'll all go apply for it.

Post a CommentI have had many jobs and most of them were good for a few weeks or months and then they became part of the mundane routine and we only do them cause then we get paid and having no money sucks. I do enjoy workinh for myself, choosing my own hours although that in itself is hard work and often with no real wage.
I like these ideas. No job is "perfect!' :-)
Very enjoyable article! It made me really think....I just am not sure what the perfect job would be,other than something that made one feel good every day! That could be many different things to many different people!
The hardest, yet best job I've ever had is being an at-home mom. Of course, it took me about ten years to realize it was a great job. Now, if only I could be paid for the 24/7 work I do! :-)
I loved being a deejay!
If I can't write or play and record music, I would LOVE to work in some outdoors job where I can be physically active, like a park ranger, a treeman or a in a nursery. I loved lawncare and landscaping, but had to give it up, since it was seasonal.
I liked being a bartender when I was in university. Best job I ever had!
All joking aside, my job as a postmaster/retail trainer was the best. I pretty much could pick and choose my hours and days, and the people were great. I got out at the perfect time though and am glad I did!
I don't think I would like to work at home.
Uhhhh, THE best? cadburys quality control tester?
