Breaking the results down by demographics, Obama has the support of 46% of the black votes and Clinton has 45%. With the white voters, the vote is split 42% for Clinton, 23% for Edwards and 16% for Obama.
The situation for Clinton when it vote is split between the men and the women is pretty much the same in South Carolina as it is in the rest of the country. With the women she has the support of 47% and with the men it is 38%.
When it comes to the favorability ratings, it is Clinton very favorable 51%, somewhat favorable 30%, somewhat unfavorable 10%, very unfavorable 6% and 3% remain undecided, Obama 45% very favorable, 32% somewhat favorable, 11% somewhat unfavorable, 8% very unfavorable and 4% remain undecided, Edwards 27% very favorable, 41% somewhat favorable, 17% somewhat unfavorable, 10% very unfavorable and 6% remain undecided, New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson 11% very favorable, 27% somewhat favorable, 34% somewhat unfavorable, 15% very unfavorable and 13% remain undecided, Delaware Senator Joe Biden 12% very favorable, 26% somewhat favorable, 32% somewhat unfavorable, 17% very unfavorable and 13% remain undecided and lastly, Ohio Congressman Dennis Kucinich comes in with very favorable 10%,somewhat favorable 19% somewhat unfavorable 36%, Very unfavorable 21% and undecided 14%.
Some candidates can count on their supporters to stay with them all the way, and some do not. With those who say they will vote for Clinton, 66% say they are certain that they are going to vote for her. With those who picked Obama it is 63% and with Edwards it is only 44%.
On the illegal alien issue, 66% of the Democratic Voters in South Carolina say law enforcement officers should check on the legal status of everyone they pull over for a traffic violation and if the person is found to be here illegally, 55% say they should be deported. In addition, 70% do not believe that illegal aliens should be given drivers licenses. The nationwide average is 77%.
