Pompeii: The Best Italian Food in San Antonio, Texas

You Can't Beat These Foods or These Prices!

My mother loves Italian food, and the best place to find that in San Antonio, Texas, is in the Pompeii Restaurant. Naturally, that is where we took our mother for Mother's Day! And I have to say, she was very pleased! I even had to take my mother-in-law here with my husband in the evening, and the whole experience was a blast! Being in San Antonio, Texas, it's very hard to find good quality Italian food at a reasonable price. In my old neighborhood, I noticed that a new restaurant was being built. I thought maybe it would be just another fast-food joint, but it turned out to be quite the opposite! After a few months, a restaurant known as Pompeii was born here in San Antonio, Texas, on Nacogdoches road. From the outside, Pompeii looks quite expensive and out of place. Nacogdoches road is lined with a few gas stations, many fast food restaurants, and a Wal-Mart. So for this Pompeii restaurant to be built in this area was an extreme surprise to many of us. The Pompeii restaurant, from the outside, has an exquisite structure. It's balloon-type hemisphere which resembles a Russian or Indian mosque is brightly colored with mature colors. The inside of the Pompeii restaurant is even more beautiful. There are antique-looking columns that reach the ceilings, and huge wine bottles that decorate the interior. The walls are painted beautifully to match the columns, and there is even a sky light with a whimsical painting on it.

When you enter, you will usually be seated very promptly. When you are finally at your table, you'll notice that they serve you fresh, warm bread with garlic oil immediately. That stuff is great! Just be careful not to get full of the bread though! The lunch specials are wonderful, they can range from five to seven dollars per plate. Otherwise, the dishes range for about ten dollars. A couple can have a full meal, plus wine, for a little under fifty dollars. For such a great interior and prompt service, you'd think that the prices would be sky high! But quite the opposite is in effect at Pompeii in San Antonio, Texas! Their lasagna is simply delectable, as well as the desserts. If you order a salad, the friendly staff will offer to sprinkle fresh pepper on your food, or even fresh parmesan on your pasta dishes. Pompeii has an extensive wine list, as well as great-tasting mixed drinks. The only negative factor about Pompeii would be that the seats are too close together at times .Other than that fact, Pompeii is a wonderful restaurant that mixes a first century Italian feel with a modern approach to the food. So if you're ever in San Antonio and you're craving some Italian food, Pompeii is definitely the place to go!
