Ponce de Leon Springs State Park is home to a second magnitude spring that flows forth from two main underground water arteries and produces up to 14 million gallons of crystal clear 68 degree water everyday year round. The park is also home to a series of picnic tables and shelters, a hiking trail and some of the best snorkeling and swimming in the area.

Probably the most popular activity here at Ponce de Leon Springs State Park is swimming in the spring. During the warm summer months, the park swells with visitors who want to take a plunge into the cool waters of the spring.

While the park waters may be named after the explorer who was looking for the fountain of youth, the 68 degree waters will surely make you feel young again. The park is home to a large bathroom facility complete with changing rooms when you're ready to don your bathing suit or get into dry clothes.

If you and your family have had your fill of swimming, enjoy the parks many nature trails. Two trails offer park guests a glimpse into the interior of Ponce de Leon Springs State Park.

Each trail winds its way through lush hardwood forests and along the 350 feet of spring run. Here are some great opportunities to view wildlife and see some of the unique vegetation that calls Ponce de Leon Springs State Park home. Rangers conduct seasonal guided hikes. Call the park at (850)836-4281 for more details on guided hike times.

Fishing is also a popular sport here at Ponce de Leon Springs State Park. While it is not possible to fish in the springs or swimming area, the nearly 400 feet of open spring run offers anglers a chance at some excellent fishing opportunities. Catfish, largemouth bass, bream and a wide variety of pan fish can be found in abundance at the park.

Settle down after your swim or hike at one of the parks 20 acres worth of amenities. Four picnic shelters are available for reservation and each contains a grill for your cooking adventures.

Many other picnic tables are scattered around the park for use on a first come, first serve basis. A grill is available at each picnic spot, allowing you to cook hamburgers and hot dogs for the ultimate family outing.
