Owning a pond on your property can either be a thing of beauty or an eyesore that can detract from your property value in a hurry. Last spring, a friend of mine purchased a 15-acre property complete with a badly neglected fishing pond in a corner of the land he purchased.

Talk about a smelly mess! The pond was covered in algae and obviously had not been constructed to allow fresh water flow in or out of the pond except during a heavy rain which would force the pond to flood it's banks and spread algae into the fields around the pond.

Once the fountain was in operation, it took about a week to notice the algae problem was beginning to come under control. Within a month, the algae growth was almost non-existent and the water had become clear without the annoying smell as before the installation.
