Pondering St Patrick's Day

Lori Slate
Leprechauns, shamrocks, and the color green,

What do they mean?

How about a Saint named Patrick....

Did he really remove all the snakes from Ireland?

How many were saved as he converted them to Christianity?

We celebrate Saint Patrick's Day with parties and parades;

Everyone wear your green or be pinched.

Kiss the blarney stone,

Drink green beer.

How many realize the true significance as they party this year?

There's a certain shroud of mystery.

And many choose to believe whatever they want to believe,

Rather than learning the important history of Saint Patrick.

But, hey - put on your green party clothes, March 17 is almost here.

Toast one another with mugs of frosty green beer.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day to one and all, and

Thank you to a simple lad named Patrick,

Through his captivity, he became a believer in God

And was called to seek out and deliver the Word,

To convert and save many a nonbeliever.
