Pond's Dry Skin Cream VS Dove Face Bar Moisturizing Cream: Which is Better?

Stacy J. Day
I have always had both sensitive skin as well as oily skin with some parts of my face drier than others. When I was in my teens and twenties, I must admit that I didn't use much to clean my face and oftentimes only used plain water. Despite using so little to care for my face in the past, my skin was always beautiful, soft and supple, even with the minor skin sensitivity and combination of oiliness and dryness. Now that I'm in my late thirties I recently realized that I needed to kick up my routine several notches because even though I have yet to experience wrinkles, lines and similar signs of aging, I have begun to experience a problem with extreme dryness and skin that began flaking off my nose and near my eyebrows. I knew immediately that I needed to incorporate some products into my regime that would make my skin softer and more youthful. I also needed something that would put an end to the extreme dryness and peeling. I tried two different moisturizing skin creams that I used in combination with exfoliators and cleansers, one for one month, and the other one the following month.

The first face cream that I tried was Dove Face Bar Fragrance Free Moisturizing Cream. I've always had the highest opinion of Dove products, and I still do, but the one thing that seemed unappealing about this particular face moisturizer was the fact that it didn't have a fragrance. I realize that many people are sensitive to fragrances because I suffered from multiple chemical sensitivity in the past and was unable to tolerate any type of fragrances without becoming very ill. Now that I'm able to tolerate many mild fragrances, I find that I desire them. Despite the fact that the Dove Moisturizer did not have a fragrance, it worked wonders at moisturizing my skin. Almost immediately, the dry, scaly skin disappeared and my skin looked great again.

In an effort to find a moisturizer that had a pleasant but mild fragrance and worked just as well or better than the Dove, I discovered Pond's Dry Skin Cream at a nearby Fred's Store. Since it was only $4.50, I quickly decided to purchase it, especially after learning that the product is not only hypoallergenic and suitable for sensitive skin, but it also has a very pleasant and mild scent, just like I was seeking. Now the question was, would this product moisturize my skin as well as the Dove Face Bar had? After using the Pond's Dry Skin Cream for a week, I was totally convinced that it worked as well as the Dove product had. I continued to use it for an entire month and had the same great results the entire time. The Pond's cream worked well without harming my skin or causing any type of breakout. I believe that both of these face creams are equally as beneficial for women looking for a great moisturizer, and the final decision will depend on which brand she prefers as well as whether or not she prefers a scented product like I do.
