The Beach Waterpark
Location: Mason, about 30 minutes north of downtown Cincinnati
Admission Price: $27.99 for adults, $10.50 for children under 48 inches and seniors.
The Beach Waterpark, formerly Surf Cincinnati, is a great way to spend an entire summer day. With real sand beaches and the Kahuna Beach Wavepool, it's as close to the ocean as you can get in midwest Cincinnati. The Beach Waterpark has some of the most thrilling water rides in the midwest, including the Aztec Adventure Water Coaster. Kids and families can have fun playing in Emerald Bay, and if you're into some real oceanside experience, you can play a couple sets of sand volleyball on the beach. If you're looking for more relaxation than extreme water sports, be sure to hit the Lazy Miami innertube ride or The Pearl, a heated spa pool surrounded by palm trees and waterfalls.
Sunlite Pool at Coney Island
Location: Kellogg Avenue, about 10 minutes east of downtown Cincinnati
Admission Price: Adults and children 4 and over, $19.50 with ride ticket, $10.95 Sunlite Pool only, Children 2 and 3, $9.95 with ride ticket, $3.95 Sunlite Pool only.
If you think you've seen a pool before, you haven't seen anything until you've been to Sunlite Pool at Coney Island in Cincinnati, Ohio. Sunlite Pool is the world's largest recirculating pool, 200 feet wide by 401 feet long and over 3 million gallons of water. Sunlite Pool offers something for everyone, with more than an acre of shallow water for kids to splash around, diving boards and lap lanes in the deep end to 4 waterslides, from the 500 foot Zoom Flume to the speed slide in the center of the pool. Once you're done swimming at Sunlite Pool, you can enjoy the classic midway rides at Coney Island or take in a live show.
Winton Woods Hamilton County Park
Location: Winton Road, about 20 minutes north of downtown Cincinnati
Admission: Vehicle Pass, $2 per day or $5 per year, Parky's Ark Wet Playground admission, $1 per child.
Winton Woods Hamilton County Park is over 2000 acres just north of Cincinnati, Ohio. If you're looking for economical ways to beat the heat with your kids, the park systems offer a lot of water fun for very little money. Parky's Ark Wet Playground is a great place to get the kids cooled off in the summer. The "Ark" sits among large, climbable animals squirting water for a great wet adventure. You can also rent pedal boats and row boats at the floating boathouse.
It can be hard to stay cool in the summer heat and humidity in Cincinnati, Ohio, but fortunately for us there are great places to swim and splash all over the city no matter what your price range may be. Sunlite Pool, The Beach Waterpark and Winton Woods Park will keep you cool for sure!
