Poop: It Comes with the Job!

Aaron Mitcham
Babies are these cute little cuddly warm creatures that everyone wants to kiss and play with, that is until they poop. When my oldest son was about 10 months old we had a toy that we called "the bug." It was the greatest invention. I received it as a hand-me-down from a friend who swore it worked wonders. She was right! It had all these great attatched toys. There were mirrors and the seat swiveled around and it had a bottom so their feet did not touch the floor. I was in love with the toy. It gave me a few moments baby free to get things accomplished around the house.

I breastfed him, and if you have ever breastfed you know that the consistency of their diapers is usually very runny and yellowish in color. I was going about my happy way and he was playing cheerfully in his bug. I came around the corner and that is when I saw it. There was this pool of yellow stool. His legs were acting as stoppers in the holes of the seat. He had managed to poop so much that he filled the entire seat with poop. I just looked at him and looked at the toy. I literally didn't know what to do. I wanted to laugh, cry, scream, and run all at the same time. I was home alone so I couldn't pass this off on anyone else. Needless to say it was a very involved process to get it cleaned up. We still call him bug to this day!
