After a one-week hiatus, welcome once again to Pop Music News, a weekly wrap-up of some of the more noteworthy news items from the world of popular music. Here's some of what's happening this week:

Lollapalooza Lineup Announced

It's hard to believe that Lollapalooza has been around for 20 years, but this diverse musical festival has been bringing a wide variety of musical acts to an ever growing audience of fans for two decades now. The festival has grown in size and in scope over the years, widening the types of music it showcases year after year, and this year's lineup is one of the largest and most diverse they've ever had.

Headliners for this year's Lollapalooza include Eminem, Foo Fighters, Coldplay, Muse, My Morning Jacket, Cee Lo Green, Flogging Molly, The Cars, and many more. The festival kicks off on August 5th in Chicago's beautiful Grant Park and lasts for three glorious fun-filled days. For the complete lineup of acts performing at Lollapalooza 2011, click here.

Jazz-Pop Singer Phoebe Snow Dies

Phoebe Snow, the multi-talented singer-songwriter-guitarist who is best known for her 1975 hit 'Poetry Man' has died. With several albums spanning the late 1970's, Snow won praise for her "rich, dark and wide-ranging voice," and even scored another hit, a collaboration with Paul Simon on 'Gone at Last' in 1975. Soon after, Snow dropped out of the music scene altogether to care for her severely brain damaged daughter, Valerie, and returned to the music world only sporadically thereafter. The singer, who was 60, died from complications of a brain hemorrhage she endured last year. Check out a performance of 'Poetry Man' from 1989 right here.

Remembering Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes Nine Years Later

April 25th marked the nine-year anniversary of the death of Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, the charismatic rapper who was a member of one of the most successful girl groups of all time, TLC. The talented young lady had been in Honduras working on a documentary of her "spiritual journey" when she lost control of the car she was driving and flipped over multiple times. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The feisty, often outspoken Lopes played the rapper's role in the trio, who scored big hits during the 90's with the #1 hits 'No Scrubs,' 'Waterfalls,' and 'Unpretty.' Though the group's demise followed Lopes' death, the TLC name has lived on, with surviving members Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins and Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas sporadically returning to the public eye, most notably with a special appearance together at the 2008 BET Awards. The group will be honored later this year, the group's 20th anniversary, with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Lopes was 30 years old at the time of her death.

Sad to hear about Phoebe Snow... sad for me that the only one I've heard of is the one who died. She had one of the most haunting voices in pop music.
