When approaching the store, the first thing you're likely to notice is the sixty-six foot tall metal sculpture rendition of a soda pop bottle, complete with a straw. During the day, this structure is interesting enough with it rings of metal that form the tall work. At night, the sight becomes even more eye-catching in that there are lights of all colors that make the giant pop bottle seem to come alive.
Next thing that will catch your eye as you approach POPS66 is the huge white beams that form an open triangle over the top of the building. Over the gas pumps, which themselves are a work of art-another "you have to see to believe"--is a one hundred foot overhang that protects the area and along with the front of the building forms an area with an open-room feel.
As you get close to POPS66 what you might find yourself noticing is the crowded parking lot. From its first day of opening, POPS66 has been consistently busy. If their wait for tables is a reliable indicator, the food they serve is a big reason why. Of course, POPS66 selection of more than 400 kinds of ice cold beverages is no slouch, either.
The restaurant serves breakfast all day long and they claim to have the fluffiest eggs ever. The menu runs the gambit, but their feature items are half pound burgers made from 100% all natural beef from Wynnewood, Oklahoma. Right now, during peak meal times, there is an estimated 1-2 hour wait, but you can spend that time browsing their gift shop or enjoying the view of the neighboring tree farm. The counter features fountain service as well as shakes made from hand-dipped ice cream.
The building has a very airy feel to it. With the glass that abounds, there is plenty of light and an open feel. Along the glass walls are glass shelves with myriads of pop bottles lining each shelf. The sunlight coming in through the different colors of soda and the glass bottles themselves is very eye-catching and interesting.
Right down the road to the east of POPS66 is the historic Old Round Barn and all around is the interesting countryside of Oklahoma. Visitors to POPS66 can easily be afforded a look into rural life, a look into history nearby, and the unique experience of POPS66 itself. Visit once and judge for yourself, but I'll wager you'll be back for seconds.
