A very popular camping attraction for both tourists and locals is Long's Retreat Adventure Resort. Long's Retreat features over 300 campsites without electric up to full service campsites for large campers. There is also cabins that can be rented for $75 to $125 if you would rather not get all that close to Mother Nature. Long's Retreat is located at 50 Bell Hollow Road in Latham, Ohio.
Long's Retreat Adventure Resort also has fishing, swimming and water slides and a section for toddlers to play in the water. There is also miniature golf, go-karts and more to keep your family occupied. It does cost a little bit more, but it is worth it. For example, a four minute go-kart ride costs $4.
LB Camping is a horse riders camp on Greenbriar Road, Bainbridge. While there is not cabins for rent, there is plenty of space to park a trailer, camping vehicle and more. An LB Restaurant is on the property to serve a tasty meal after a hard day of riding. There is thousands of acres to ride on because it is located at the Pike State Forest. Since this is a popular camping and horse riding site, there is an unfortunate horse urine smell. So this is not a site for regular campers.
Pike Lake State Park is another delightful camping spot. Hidden away in the Pike State Forest, camping at Pike Lake is as quiet as you can get. All campsites are electric for both camping vehicles and tents. There is also cabins for rent that sit up on a hill a little walk from the lake.
There is a beautiful but relatively shallow lake for swimming and fishing. Hikers will be thrilled with the various trails that await. While some trails are made to be nothing more than a comfortable stroll, other trails are quite a workout that is not to be done by the faint of heart. During mushroom season many people leave the trail to find a delicious treat. Pike Lake also two shelter houses, a child's playground near the campsites, and horse shoe pits.
So check out these nice camping spots in and around Pike County, Ohio.
