Popular Christmas Gifts, 2007: iPhones, Nintendo Wii Top My Predictions

Tyler Bayer
It's the season for giving gifts. Christmas shopping can be a stressful chore at times. I hope this article of hot and popular Christmas gifts will help you build your shopping list. These gift ideas are predictions based on the buzz surrounding today's popular consumer products and electronics. Many sites are already predicting the best Christmas gifts this season, however only time and sales will tell.

What turns a regular product into a popular Christmas gift? One factor is the price, generally consumers are more skeptical about buying expensive high end gifts. This is one reason the Play Station 3 didn't sell well. On the other hand the Nintendo Wii is in very high demand because of it's cheaper price. Some are already predicting that there will be Nintendo Wii shortages this Christmas season. It's seems that the demand for the Wii has been regularly exceeding Nintendo's manufacturing power. This certainly indicates that the Nintendo Wii will be a very popular Christmas gift this year. However some are still voting for Play Station 3 indicating that Sony's $100 decrease in price for this Christmas season will increase sales.

Also judging from eBay's hot 25 holiday gift ideas the iPhone will be a very popular item this Christmas season. Currently the iPhone is the hottest selling item on eBay. Apple's $200 recent iPhone price drop has certainly increased it's sales. Also the Apple commercials seem to be a big hit among young people these days. Additionally Apple's success with the iPod in previous years has paved the way for the iPhone. The iPod's great quality and impressive features have turned many consumers into Apple fans and loyalists. It seems that if in the previous years the iPod was a very popular gift idea, this year the iPhone will be just as popular. There is a big price difference between the iPhone and the tradition iPod. Considering that Cell Phones are also a very popular Christmas gift, the iPhone makes a lot of sense. It's a great Cell Phone and the best iPod all in one. While the iPhone has had some negative feedback concerning it's slow internet surfing speed, camera picture quality, and software limitations, it still holds a unique place in today's portable electronics market. There aren't that many other devices on the market that can compete with all of the iPhone's capabilities and features. Also the fact that Apple manufactures it is another plus.
