Dolmathakia, Otherwise Known As Stuffed Grape Leaves

Stuffed grape leaves aren't just a favorite appetizer in Greece; they're also one of the most traditional Greek dishes. You can make them with or without meat.

Patates Tiganites, Otherwise Known As Fried Potatoes

Many places in the world enjoy their own versions of fried potatoes. In Belgium, they're called Belgium fries. In the U.S., they're called French fries (or potato chips). In Greece, they prefer their fried potatoes crispy.

Riganatha, Otherwise Known As Grilled Bread w/Feta & Tomatoes

Place extra virgin olive oil, feta cheese, a sprinkling of oregano and chopped tomatoes on grilled pieces of bread. This even goes well with beer!

Souvlakia Arnisia, Otherwise Known As Cocktail Lamb Kebabs

Souvlakia are chunks of meat on little skewers. This tasty finger food/appetizer does take a while to prepare: 3 days for marinating, then it's cooked on the fourth day. So plan this snack ahead of time.

Spanakotyropita, Otherwise Known As Spinach Pie w/Feta Cheese

Spinach seems to be a particular favorite vegetable in Greece and it mainly shows through their spinach recipes. This particular spinach pie can be made in many ways, but the using store-bought phyllo dough is the easiest way to do it.

Spanakopita, Otherwise Known As Spinach Pie w/o Cheese

The same as above without the dairy, but still the same great taste of spinach, herbs and phyllo.

Zabonotyrofloyeres, Otherwise Known As Ham & Cheese Flutes

These are small appetizers wrapped in phyllo dough that you can serve with beverages.

Tyropitakia, Otherwise Known As Cheese Pie Triangles

This is such a flaky pastry dough and Greek cheese delight. You can try fixing these with your kids, or other young cooking enthusiasts, because they are easy, fun, and the perfect kid-sized snack.

Hortopitakia, Otherwise Known As Savory Pies w/Spinach or Greens & Herbs

These are small pies that are made with greens and aromatic herbs. They're pretty easy to make, and especially with phyllo dough that you make from scratch.

Even more great-tasting Greek appetizer/finger food dishes and dips:

- The Stuffed Tuna & Egg Appetizers dish is another take on deviled eggs where the filling is made with tuna. Greeks eat this either as an appetizer or as a meze with ouzo.

- Delicious Batter Fried Zucchini Strips, where the soda water in the batter gives this food its crunchy texture.

- Hot Pepper Cheese Dip, with mild to hot peppers, can give your appetizers an extra kick.

- Tzatziki (a Cucumber, Yogurt, and Garlic Spread) is the most famous Greek appetizer that's used on vegetables, crackers, or pita bread.

- Made very similarly to French toast, Quick Fried Cheese Pies are a delicious finger food. Just fry them in olive oil.
