Rock climbing is fast becoming one of the favorite pastimes among South Carolina natives. We are just lucky enough to live in the perfect area for it, as we have many majestic mountains that are just perfect for climbing. There are many spots in the North Carolina mountains to choose from when planning your next rock climbing expedition. Whether you're in the beginning stages of climbing or an experienced and advanced climber, you are guaranteed to find an exciting adventure awaiting you in one of our many beautiful North Carolina mountains.

The sheer cliffs and rock wall faces of the Chimney Rock Mountains create an excellent vantage point for rock climbing. They offer a varying degree of rock climbing expertise throughout different times of the year. Chimney Rock also provides you with climbing guides and Fox Mountain guides to assure that you get the biggest thrill out of your adventure while staying safe. These climbs are catered to your own individual abilities making this a unique and extraordinary adventure.

You will be able to see everything the mountain has to offer from a whole different perspective while climbing with your guide.

You can choose a solo or group climb, depending on your own abilities. Chimney Rock features 2 hour rappelling clinics and climbing classes geared to your skill level. This is the only AMGA- certified school in the state.
The minimum age for these climbs is 6 years old. There is no minimum weight requirement. All equipment is provided in the price of the climbs.

Pura Vida Adventures offers many climbing trips and exploring adventures in Pisgah Forest near Western North Carolina. This spot is convenient to Spartanburg S.C. and all the surrounding areas. It is very popular with tourists and climbers of all ages so it stays very busy during the fall and summer months. Pur Vida typical does the majority of their climbs at either Looking Glass Rock, Cedar Rock or Pilot Rock. All three of these are only a short drive from the outpost. They specialize in guided climbing tours which emphasize safety, instruction and fun. They feature a wide variety of tours ranging in price and at different times. There most popular tour is a full day adventure of climbing and rappelling that encompasses 6 to 7 hours of fun and excitement. The cost is $200 for the first person and $100 for each additional person up to 3. There is a limit of 3 climbers and a minimum age limit of 15.

Crowder's mountain in Charlotte N.C. has many different sections of the mountain designated as spots for climbers. Like car wall, which is located on the back of a 2 pitch wall and is fairly easy to navigate. It's a 5.8 on the difficulty level which makes it the perfect mountain climb for those with a little more experience. The middle finger backside can be seen from other spots on the mountain, like Gumby's Roof. Most climbers use top rope when navigating the mountain climb. The hours of operation at Crowder's Mountain vary depending on the season. The weather is usually pretty nice, with mild temperatures just perfect for climbing. you'll often find this area crowded with tourists as this is a very popular spot among climbers.
