Sports
Sports is always a one of the most popular nursery themes for baby boys. If you are going with a generic sports theme, you can pick can decorate with all of the sports such as basketball, baseball, football, soccer, and hockey. You can also chose to do only one sport as the theme for the baby's room. and just stick with that one sport only throughout the whole room. Another idea for a sports themed nursery is to pick your favorite sports team such as the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, Cleveland Cavaliers, or Dallas Cowboys. Decorate the nursery in the team's colors and find any items that have the teams logo on it to decorate with.
Cars
Cars is a very simple nursery theme that will be easy to find things to decorate with. Look for items such as car-shaped area rugs and curtains with cars to add more of the theme into the baby's room. Also, if you have any old model cars or matchbox cars you can place them on a shelf to decorate the nursery.
Jungle Safari
This is one of the nursery themes that is getting more and more popular. There are several different bedding sets and lines that offer a jungle safari theme. If you are creative and can paint well you can paint a safari mural onto one of the walls. Or look out for animal decal stickers that you can place on the walls to make your own jungle safari scene.
Little Surfer
This is another one of the most popular nursery themes that is getting more and more attention. There are several different bedding sets available in a little surfer theme. When decorating for this theme, think about anything that has to do with the ocean or Hawaii and surfing. A little wooden surfboard with the child's name on it makes a great addition to the baby's room.
Trains
Trains have been a popular nursery theme for a very long time. There are plenty of train baby accessories that you can get to decorate the baby's room with. Add an actual model or wood trains on shelves or dressers that the child can play with when they are older. Thomas the Tank Engine is a popular way of decorating with trains in a nursery.

Trains or cars are cool. I never liked clothing or decorations for kids that sported character themes. It just seemed too commercial for me. If you are planning on having more than one kid, and the babies will all share the nursery, however, I think a genger-neutral scheme is a better Idea! Noah's ark comes to mind.
