Here Comes the Wedding of Your Dreams

Fall weddings tend to be beautiful events with the gold, orange, and red colors that come with the changing of the seasons and the falling of the leaves. If you are getting married in this season, you may be wondering where the best locations are in Pflugerville, Round Rock, and Austin area. Here, in no particular order, is a list of five of the best places to help make your wedding a memorable and gorgeous occasion.

The Plantation House - located in Pflugerville at 3603 Kelly Lane, this mansion boasts 5 acres of wedding potential. If you want to have an indoor wedding, it has many perks including a newly renovated bridal suite and a cake room. They provide chairs and tables for up to 150 guests; after that each additional chair is $3 and each table is $30. It also boasts beautiful gardens and botanical with fountains and many foliage including weeping willows about the white gazebo if you are opting for an outdoor wedding. And there is also an 1800 square foot tented pavilion for the reception that will hold up in any weather. I will say that the Plantation House does not come cheap, the lowest rental price being $2995.00 for a wedding Monday-Thursday during the hours of 6-11pm (full prices are listed here) but this includes a lot of amenities including a day of coordinator to help reduce the stress as well as a one hour rehearsal and 30 day run through, along with clean up. If you are looking for a really fancy venue and can afford it, the Plantation House may be good for you.

The Rabb House-Now if you need something a little bit less extravagant, there is always the Rabb House, located on Brushy Creek at 2009 E. Palm Valley Blvd (Highway 79). It has 14 acres and can hold up to 118 people in its meeting room. It comes equipped with a full kitchen as well as swimming pool for if you would like to have floating candles if your wedding is to take place at night. Since it has a swimming pool, you know it has an open area for outdoor weddings; plus if you're wedding isn't too large family members who didn't mind could cook in its full kitchen, thus taking away the need for a caterer. Plus it is located off a way from the highway so you and your wedding party will be able to enjoy yourselves without disturbing many people or being disturbed yourself. The rates for the Rabb House are $200 for four hours for residents with $15 for each additional hour and a $100 refundable deposit for litter damage. For non-residents, the rates are $225 for four hours and $20 for each additional hour (the litter damage deposit is the same).
On a personal note, I was in a wedding at the Rabb House and I found it to be a really lovely location. It doesn't cost a lot to rent and it is a beautiful place for a wedding. The one downside I can foresee is the four hours do include set-up and clean up so you are responsible for picking up after you and your guests.

Chapel Dulcinea-located near downtown Austin at 16221 Crystal Hills this may be a good choice for you as it's free. Yes you read that right; it's free to use the chapel. They do ask for a $100 cancellation fee but guess what? If you show up to get married on the day you said you would, you get that money back. Why do they do this? Do you really care? It's free. The Chapel is located atop a cliff, which will provide you a view of the foliage around the Austin area, giving a beautiful backdrop for all your wedding photos. There are a few rules and regulations (such as no rice throwing at the end of the wedding, bubbles only). Only official weddings, as in a binding legal ceremony complete with someone ordained to marry two people, can happen on Saturday or Sunday so keep that in mind. Now, the Dulcinea chapel is apart of the Wizard Academy so you have to be kind to this venue. And there are reception areas near including a free one called the Canadian Diamond Pavilion; however it only holds 30 people, there is no food but wedding cakes allowed, and you can't dance or get drunk. So, if you want that you may want to try another venue located close by, the Tuscan Hall, which is not free. But they have pretty decent prices; for four hours Monday-Thursday it is only $250; all day is $1950. The weekends however are pricier with Friday and Sunday costing $2500 and Saturday $3000. This includes kitchen privileges and chair and table usage (however they will charge an additional fee if you want them to set up. Full day rentals are considered 9 am -11 pm so you have to be out by 11 pm; this includes cleaning up and all those incidentals. However, you could always just use the chapel and go to another venue, like the Salt Lick for a reception or even World-Famous Threadgill's.

Chateau on the Creek-also located in Round Rock at 2601 Sam Bass Road, Chateau has 7 acres of beautiful landscape that can be lighted for an evening ceremony and/or reception that is complete with a gazebo located under a canopy of beautiful old oak trees, which would be especially beautiful during the autumn season. After the wedding, you and your guests are welcome to stroll down a lawn nestled between two creeks to a reception area. If you choose to have an indoor wedding, there is an arched reception hall for 130 guests complete with Bride and Groom Suites. There is also a garden atrium at this venue. Chateau also offers catering and cakes at an additional charge by Kathy Hunt, a woman who comes from a line of florists, caterers, and bridal consultants. However, they do not offer prices on their website; they prefer that you would contact them with all your information and/or drive to see the venue so they can give you a more accurate price for your wedding.

One World Theatre-- While you may be hesitant to choose this venue as it is technically a theatre, there are many perks to this location. It too is also located close to downtown Austin in the Barton Creek Hills area (physical address is 7701 Bee Cave Road). It is Tuscan villa inspired with a cathedral like theatre. There is also a Wedding Hall available for your reception. There is also a balcony that is just perfect for the bouquet toss as well as the garter toss and provides a view of the surrounding area which should be illustrating the changing of the seasons. There is also a bridal suite, private dressing rooms, and a dining area. When you rent this area you get full use of the entire building including the theater, Celebration Hall, and plaza as well as use of the sound system in the theatre for a reception. This was a 2000 Critics Pick by the Austin Chronicle and all over its site are testimonials from people who were more than happy with their decision to have their wedding here. Plus, it will no doubt be a beautiful wedding nestled atop the hills of downtown Austin. Once again they do not offer prices on their website, preferring you to contact them with all the information for your wedding date to give you a more accurate price.

Austin Party Cruise-- You could always get married on a yacht on Lake Austin with your family and friends. Think about how unique your venue would be, plus how beautiful on a boat with the lights of the city as your backdrop. Keeping in mind how unpredictable the weather is in Austin, especially in fall you don't worry about your guests being uncomfortable as the boats are heated and air conditioned and you have the option of brining your own food or using Courtney's Catering a service that is available through the party cruise. This would be a beautiful choice for a fall wedding as it is on the water where you will be able to see all the trails around Lake Austin and as such be able to have a wonderful view of all the changing colors in the trees. Plus, as stated with the air conditioning and heat that the boats provide you won't have to worry about your guests being uncomfortable. There are three boating options to choose from when deciding to go with this option; "Celebration" which can hold up to 75 people, "Jubilee" for up to 75 people but is said to be ideal for groups of 25-50, and the "Festival" for up to 60 people. Prices do vary by your boat size, the length of your party, catering considerations, and seasonal factors so in order to get an accurate price you need to contact them with your wedding date and they should be able to give you an accurate price.

As you can see, when you decide to tie the knot in the Austin area, even in autumn, there are many different places you can choose. Congratulations again on your wedding and good luck finding a venue that will meet all your nuptial dreams.
